Paper Girls Blog Hop and a Giveaway!

We have a fun treat for you this week - a Blog Hop with The Paper Girls!
Our theme for this hop is FALL DECOR!
Make sure you leave a comment on my post for your chance to win the Paper Girls' gift certificate prize, but I'm also offering up some blog candy of my own! (details below!)

You should have come here from Jessica's blog, and if not, check the blog hop order on the Paper Girls Challenge Blog to get back on track!

On to my project...

I don't usually make much in the way of home decor. So I actually did a search for "Fall Decor" on Pinterest to get me thinking about some possible projects. I saw some wooden blocks decorated with leaves, and that reminded me of some Adorn-It paper boxes I had in my stash. These boxes measure 3"x3"x3" and were so easy to dress up with some paper and embellies. Take a look:

The other sides have some embellies and family photos on them, so the boxes can be flipped and rearranged to get some different looks:

I love how they turned out, so then I had to find a good spot for them in my home, and this prompted me to buy some other fall pieces, so this is what it all looks like right now:
I love fall, don't you?

Thanks for stopping by, don't forget to comment, and then your next stop is Cathryn's blog!

Paper Girls - Make Your Own Stamp

Good morning! Today is my first project as part of The Paper Girls Challenge Blog design team! Heather's challenge today is a technique -- Make Your Own Stamp!  There are a lot of possibilities for this. Honestly, I just took a look around my desk and noticed one of my daughter's Crayola markers sitting there. The marker cap makes a great circle outline when you use it as a stamp!  Here's my card:

Supplies:
White cardstock: PaperSource
Ink: Memento 'Gray Flannel'
Sequins: Studio Calico
Letter stickers: American Crafts

I used the current sketch over at CAS(E) This Sketch!, so I'm going to link up with their challenge as well.

Now, go check out the other PGCB design team projects HERE, and remember, you've got until September 28th to link up your project!

Thanks for stopping by today!

NSD layout

There are so many National Scrapbooking Day challenges out there, it is so overwhelming! But, I found a few to try out and I've got a layout to share that combines a few challenges.

  • I used a sketch over at BasicGrey (and used some BG buttons!)
  • The Paper Girls inspired me to doodle on my layout, which added the perfect detail, I think!
  • And finally Scrap Our Stash has their regular monthly challenge up, this time it's to use 3 or more patterned papers from 3 or more collections, plus rub-ons (the words 'Love' and 'June' are rub-ons)

Patterned papers: Carta Bella "True Friends", Authentique "Splendid", Jillibean Soup "Pasta Fagioli"
Letter stickers: Carta Bella
Buttons: BasicGrey, Doodlebug
Twine: May Arts
Rub-ons: American Crafts, Making Memories

Paper Made Bakery Challenge

There's a fun card kit company out there called Paper Made Bakery (PMB). I was a subscriber for several months because I just love the mix of papers, embellies and stamp sets that come in each kit! I only stopped subscribing because I couldn't keep up and built up quite a stash...

Well, this is my lucky week! PMB is having its first ever Fresh Baked Kit challenge to use up those unused kit supplies. I've already completed one project. (ok, ok, I actually made this last week when Shannon first hinted at the upcoming challenge!)  I really hope to have a few more projects done this week.

So, where to start with all my lovely kits and stamp sets? Another challenge blog helped me decide: The Paper Girls Challenge Blog is hosting a challenge "April Showers Bring May Flowers" right now. I immediately thought of using my Avocado Arts stamp set from the PMB February 2012 kit. But to switch things up, I paired the stamp set with papers and a green hexagon rub-on from the PMB August 2012 kit.  (washi tape is from my stash)

Perfect springtime combination, I think!

Thanks for looking at my card, and if you like it, please come VOTE for me at the Paper Made Bakery blog! (Definitely check out the other entries and vote for all your faves!)

Santa and Warmest wishes

Here's the layout I made for the ScrapbookSteals Mid-Week Mojo sketch this week (Jade #8).

Patterned papers - Lawn Fawn and Pebbles
Stickers - My Mind's Eye
Flair - Bluebird Chic
Washi tape - WRMK
Title - American Crafts, Fancy Pants and Jillibean Soup

I then took the supplies I already had out and made a card with a Studio Calico sketch. I'm playing along again at The Paper Girls Challenge Blog, so I added some twine as a final detail to the card.

Unity Friends with Flair and Birthday Card Swap

I decided to link up with Unity Friends with Flair this week. Thanks for stopping by!
My scrappy friends and I are doing a card swap. Send in 10 cards and get 10 different cards back. When I do swaps like this I usually send in 10 completely different designs. Even when I do batches of Christmas cards they all end up quite different. I guess I get bored with the same design over and over again. This time I found a design I didn't mind repeating, though you will see that each card is still unique!
Here's the base card design, using Unity's itty bitty image and sentiment "Fabulous Girl". I used some ledger paper as the card background, so I'm also linking this project up to the Paper Girls Challenge blog.

And here are all 10 cards.
While I had my supplies out I made a matching gift card holder.

Pretty Painting

I saw this sketch at Paper Secrets and thought it would work really well for 2 photos I have of my daughter painting.
With an artsy subject like this and the paint colors in the pictures I had to pair them with some Amy Tangerine 'Sketchbook' papers and embellishments. I love how it turned out, and it was so fun to use all these bright colors together! I used ledger paper for the background of the layout, so I'm going to enter this in the current Paper Girls challenge as well.

While I had my supplies out, I made this card. I really should do this more often. This time I decided to color in one of the 'Sketchbook' doodles and make it the focus of the card.
When deciding on colors and papers, I went with the gorgeous colors and cute polka dots found in this inspiration photo for the Pinspired Challenge #1.

Thanks for looking at my projects today!
